In 1811 Jonas Williams built a mill on Ellicott Creek at Glen Falls. This was the beginning of what would become the Village of Williamsville. Located where the main road from Batavia to Buffalo crossed Ellicot creek at Glenn Falls several mills and a stagecoach stop grew into a community and was incorporated as the Village of Williamsville in 1850.
