Description   EN

Cannon Mills, a textile facility, was the backbone of this area for many years. As the textile industry shipped its work overseas, this once booming area began to feel the decline. In 2005, demolition began on an area the size of the Pentagon. By the end of 2006, all that was recognized as Cannon Mills was gone. Every building, the water tower, the smoke stacks and the Town Pond, all gone.

Then began the development of what would become the North Carolina Research Campus. Where you find yourself standing is in view of most, but not all, of the new buildings (not including the Plant building which on the other side of the road behind the Main Building to your right).

To log this cache, how many buildings are visible from this part of the campus? Spell out the number for the password.

Standing here with Micah_lee counting buildings and hoping we get it right.  There are some trees blocking some, so do I look around the tree and count it or say it isn't visable.  Also trying to remember which buildings may not have been here when this cache was set up.  Thanks for bringing me here and having me scratch my head wondering.  Probably over thinking it.  TFTC

Password fail.

Darn.  I can't count, apparently.

ZERO of two OCNA virtuals attempted!

I remember Cannon Mills.  The last time I was in Kannapolis, it was there.  This was the first time I have seen these buildings - VERY IMPRESSIVE.  What a change.

Thanks for the cache, anyway.
