Description   EN

Join the Military Association of GeoCachers for a potluck near the US Naval Academy.

5 JUNE 2011: 1100 (11am) - 1600 (4pm)

Come join MAGC at the Greenbury Point Nature Preserve’s Bay Room for a great potluck meet & greet event. Please include in your Will Attend log what you plan to bring and how many will be in your party.

New caches will be hidden on the site, waiting for you to sign the log! Membership in the MAGC is not a requirement to participate and we openly invite cachers from any where to come and join in. This one is about the friendship.

Of course, we'll also be celebrating the first 5 years of MAGC. The group was officially formed when FalconLoader and Trev R-n-R registered on the initial website on 3 FEB 06.

The event will be at Greenbury Point's Bay Room (pictured below), which has kitchen facilities, outdoor decks and a view of the Chesapeake Bay.

2006 2011

If you're not familiar with us, you may be wondering who we are. MAGC has four primary purposes:
  • Share the fun of geocachers with other like-minded individuals.
  • Aide those new to an area from PCS in learning their new home and giving them a chance to meet local cachers.
  • Helping those that are TDY “hit” some of the local caches.
  • Give single Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines off duty time with the “extended military family”.

You don't need to be affiliated with the military to join, either. People who wish to support our troops by sharing time geocaching with them, are more than welcome.

Attended this event with cooley1103 and the geo-dogs. We had a great time today caching and chowing down with fellow cachers. Thanks for hosting, and thanks for the new caches in the park!

This was a great event put on by the MAGC. I would like to thank MotherWoldf and DudleyGrunt for all their hard work in preparing for this event and all the new caches at it

We all had a great time and enjoyed caching together. It was also very nice to see Falcon Loader and family out at this event as well.

See everyoe out on the trails. TFTEC

2705.  This was also my 2500th geocaching.com cache.  It might be a bit odd to log my own cache (though, an event) as such a significant milestone, but it was both and honor to help host this event for MAGC and to count it as such a milestone.

My second ever caching event was a MAGC event here in September 2006, my first hosted event was a New Years Event for MAGC (followed shortly by two World Wide MAGC Muster events), so I was very glad to make my first picnic type event a MAGC event.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help make this such a success.  As always, it was great meeting new faces and seeing old friends.

And thanks to (Grand)Mother Wolf for co-hosting with me.  Her help was invaluable, from making the reservations to placing a ton of new gc.com caches for folks to find.

And MOST of all thanks to FalconLoader and Trevelyan's R&R for their work making MAGC a reality.  I was SO happy that FalconLoader and family was able to make it out, though sorry that Trev was not.  It did sort of feel like Trev was there in spirit, since he re-actived two of his Greenbury caches, while we were there.

Maybe we'll do a 6th anniversary event, next year.

Happy Trails!

See everyone there.

Of course, I'll be there, but I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank Mother Wolf for her assistance in getting this event together.  It's been a team effort and will continue to be so.

I intend to place a couple of OCUS hides for the day of the event, as well.
