The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers for a trash cleanup of the Glade Run Recreation Area on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 24, to celebrate National Public Lands Day.
The Glade borders Farmington’s north side. Illegal dumping and littering is an ongoing problem in the recreation area.
The cleanup will be 8:45 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will receive T-shirts and a free pass to any national park in the United States. A free lunch will be provided at noon, at the picnic shelter at Farmington’s Lions Wilderness Park Amphitheater.
To volunteer contact Bill Papich at the BLM Farmington Field Office at 599-6324, by cell phone at 320-5161 or by email at bill_papich@blm.gov. Sign-in for the event will be 8:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. at the entrance to the Glade on Pinon Hills Boulevard, where Glade Wash goes under Pinon Hills Boulevard.
In addition to the trash cleanup, this year’s National Public Lands Day event in the Glade will include repairing fences installing some information stations and placing railroad ties around a parking lot. The BLM will furnish supplies for all activities, including bottled water, trash bags, buckets, gloves, rakes, shovels and other tools and materials.
