Meet Hashawha’s birds of prey – hawks, owls and more – up close and personal. Hashawha is home to permanently injured birds, and are kept here for educational purposes. This park is open from dawn to dusk. Please plan your visit accordingly.
Hashawha Environmental Appreciation Center serves groups and individuals as a resource for environmental education and outdoor recreation. In keeping with its purpose as an environmental center, Hashawha has taken the lead in demonstrating practical conservation measures for our natural resources. Both traditional and innovative methods have been employed. Hashawha is a participant in Program Open Space, Maryland Acres for Wildlife, and is a registered tree farm. Hashawha is also recognized as a Green Center and they are currently foresting a one acre parcel of Chestnut Trees in cooperation with the American Chestnut Foundation. A restored wetland with boardwalk is open to the public for educational and recreational purposes.
While you are visiting, feel free to enjoy the other activities this park has to offer. Bear Creek Nature Center is open during certain hours if you wish to get more information about the park. Please call ahead if you require any reservations for anything. Hashawha also offers fishing, hikes, nature movies, orienteering, as well as geocaching.
For your log password, there is an "In Memory Of" sign on the back of the wooden structure. It is the first six letters of the last name in all caps.
