Beschrijving EN

This BIT Cache is in the vicinity of some sort of old Erie Canal concrete waterfall structure I've noticed several times over the years while caching on the State Canal lands North of Robinson Road in the Town of Lockport, NY. You may or may not have noticed this yourself while caching in the area, as it's sort of "off trail" to most of the caches in the area. At the very least, you probably had to cross the stream that runs from this structure to the Canal itself.

It's a pretty interesting structure, with a man-made waterfall. Wish I knew more about it, but I don't. I have no clue why they had to build the structure around the man-made waterfall, they could have just built a waterfall. If you have any idea why, please enlighten me. You can actually walk across the top of it, but be careful, there's no railing on one side, and there's a ravine surrounding it.

You are looking for a BITcache, i.e. a Bound ID Tag. More information is available at www.bitcaching.com Also, there is an example of what a BITcache looks like below. The tag is "in the woods" slightly SE of the structure. Footing can be a little tricky, but I doubt you'll tumble far enough to go into the ravine. Bushwacking was not too bad when the BIT was placed in late December, but I imagine it's a rugged little bushwack in the summer.
