That's a big tree! I was coming back from taking a tour, and made a small side trip here. Had to find the needed info online, but it wasn't too difficult. P.S. The link in the description was broken when I tried that.

Found the location this afternoon on our way to Pineville. This certainly is a tree of a mighty stature. Thanks for bringing us here. AM will post our pic.

We took the scenic route finding the place by accident. Weddington is a faster route.
As soon as my kids saw the tree they said, "Wow!". It was a big hit. It was worth the trip. I bet this tree looks amazing in the fall.

3480. WOW! This puts to shame a cache I found, recently, in Western New York called Quercus Humongous. SO, impressive!
Giving this one a Recommendation.
Thanks and Happy Trails!

Thanks for bringing us to this incredible tree! We probably never would have visited here if it wasn't for the GCGC Laundry List Relay. Ivy and I set out to find a couple on the list this evening and this was the first stop after dinner at Chick-Fil-A. The clouds were beginning to look ominus as we got about a mile from GZ and the rain began as we pulled into the neighborhood. We parked the car and made a run for the tree, which ended up providing a great umbrella from the downpour. However, the though of lightning taking aim at this magestic Willow Oak prompted us to take a couple quick pictures and running back to the safety of the car. We'll have to make a trip back out here to visit on a sunny day.

Wow. What a monster of a tree. Glad they were able to keep this one around rather than just clear cutting for new houses.
Now to get the photos posted
