This is a great piece of local history.  I really enjoyed learning about the Fairfax family and their role in the history of the region and Fort Belvoir itself.  Being a genealogy nerd, I especially liked the family tree of important members of the Fairfax family.  Thanks for bringing me here!

This was a really nice walking path through the woods. And even better, it was a nice cool morning to be out on it!

Actually passed several other people walking around and reading the history. I took my time and also followed the signs down the trail.

Some of the signs are fading though, and were getting hard to read.

Made a note of the info at Stage 1, and walked down to the cemetary.

Took a pic and then enjoyed the short walk back to the parking area.

FTF!  Drove into the neighboorhood and soon found the listed parking.  Other than some kids playing in the common green there were very few signs of life.  I grabbed my gear and took a short walk into the woods.  What a hidden gem!  I've lived in Fairfax County most of my life and never new much of the Fairfax family history, nor anything about Belvoir Plantation.  The many interpretive signs help fill in many of the gaps.  I particularly liked the sign that showed the timeline of neighboring families such as Washington and Carlye.  Without this OC I probably would not have discovered this place. Cool TFTC
