found. more later.  Quick find on a great day.  Enjoyed the view of the river and the islands.  Trees provided needed shelter from the gusty winds on the river.  TFTC

3426. OK, so here is my story about how it took me 3 attempts to find this cache. It started yesterday (7/13), when I was on Grand Island just before 9 PM and deciding whether I should actually come down for these or save them for today. I'd pulled over on West River Parkway to look at cache description to see if any hours were listed. A car pulled up next to me to ask if I was OK. I initially just waived her off , but she said she was with the local tourism office (there is a term she used, that I can't think of, right now) and was familiar with geocaching. She also said that it "didn't really close" and that I'd be OK. Confident, I carried on. Arrived at the park about 8:45 and made it here. Searched for a good bit and was having trouble finding it. Almost saw an accident as one car drove past, going to fast AND going the wrong way! Then, just a couple minutes later a police officer came by to let me know that park closed at 9 and I'd need to move on. I was tempted to tell him my "a funny thing happened on the way here" story, but decided he didn't need to hear it. I headed out and back to my hotel, for the night. The next morning (today), I headed back over here, after finding a few others on the way. I stopped here first and still had trouble. Sent e-mails to GOF and Mr. Yuck to see if I might be able to get nudged in the right direction. Moved on to River Lea and then circled back around to try again. I thought, "If one of them tells me that it is on _____ vs on ______, where would I look?" Realized there were a couple placed I hadn't really checked and came up with the find. Whew! Thanks and Happy Trails!

You know what? If this was my cache, I'd make the logging password "Ticks". Pretty funny, eh? You got a tick placing this thing?? And I only worry about them when I'm walking in tall grass or in brush. Figured where it was going to be as I walked up, and after checking a few other spots first, I went for that one, and there it was. Nice view from here, a place I'd only ever been before for the Seaway Trail cache. Thanks for the BitCache.

What are the odds that I come to the park on a day where two guys are hanging out at the coords drinking crappy beer? I waited a couple minutes but they showed no signs of leaving, so I decided to wait them out elsewhere in the park while listening to the baseball game. Sure enough, after about 10 minutes I saw their trucks drive past so I made my way back to the coords to scan the barcode. Been here before but always nice to come back. Thanks for the BITcache, gof.
