Traveled to Guelph this afternoon with plans to visit a friend from when we lived there 10 years ago. Wife stayed and chatted while I took 5 kids (5-12) and the dog letterboxing and geocaching in the area. We lived on Conroy Cres while in Guelph and I spent a lot of time back in these woods, but only looking for birds (didn't know about geocaching then). Really enjoyed the hike around the area. Thanks R of JARS for the three OpenCaches including the OCNA-only cache.
The kids had a blast on the BMX trails. And without bikes! They just ran up and down and around and had a good time. Love how the pine needles created such a orange blanket on the forest floor. Maybe due to the dry summer? I really wanted to go for the bonus cache but the kids were soon "pining" to move on. I didn't take a quick but half hearted look up the hill but didn't find anything.
To top it all off, they found a small garter snake near the cache. 4 girls and one boy and I think they were all excited to see the snake.
