Wow, I never logged a DNF, eh? Well, at least the cache owner knows, I called him the day I DNF'd it! It was in November sometime, shortly after his maintenance visit. I actually found the first two legs, but couldn't find an ammo box in a snowstorm with 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, can you believe that? So I was out in Akron with Barbershop Dru for our mostly annual Good Friday outing, and I convinced her to stop at the unique area for me to cross this off the list. I also needed a micro in the woods there, although she already had that one. We actually stumbled on the back way in to the Preserve at the top of the Escarpment, a parking area I had no idea existed. Found in only about 5 minutes on site, and she actually found the location before I did! Wow, it's jam packed full of good stuff, but I had nothing to trade today. Thanks for placing this excellent cache on our website, which I can now say that I'm an admin, which I wasn't when I started the cache. Laughing I talked a long-time cacher into giving OCNA a try at an event last week, and this is the first one I'm sending him to, if he'll be out this way. Well, I made this a trully unique cache find....I let Mr. Yuck do all the leg work...then I spotted the cache! Seemed only fair don't ya know?

This is a really nice view from the path of this escarpment...certainly worthy of an Earth Cache! Do they have those in Open Caching US?

Anyway, since we were out in this area for our annual Good Friday cache pilgrimage, it only seemed right to let Mr. Yuck look for this one again. There was still a little snow nearby, but not the 3 feet like the first time he was here...LOL. Funny.

So, thanks for the OC, not sure how many I have found now.....must be a statisic somewhere????

A beautiful day to do some maintenance and some froggy caching. Much to my surprise leg 1 was dislodged and chewed up a bit, its still serviceable but will need replacing. I had a replacement for leg 2 but it was not needed. It too had been dislodged but by a fallen tree. Leg 3 is as I thought it would be nice and dry and in great shape. Enjoy your walk!

Iset out on a wonderfully warm December Sunday with this cache as my final destination. To my surprise, there were two cars in the parking area, but no sign of them on the trails. Interesting to note that the sign for this DEC area is missing so I couldn't even check in on foursquare. Wink

The walk to the first leg was pretty short, and in no time I spotted the nicely hidden first stage. Further on down the trail, I also had no troubles with the second leg. By this time it was getting pretty late and darkness was coming on pretty soon, so I kind of cheated a little and didn't take a trail to the final. After looking around a minute or so, I spotted something suspicious which turned out to be the hide spot.

This is how a multi should be done. Excellent on all aspects. Well done sir! TFTC and the nice hike.

I have been meaning to get out here and make the find on this one. Today was the day. At leg one I looked where I thought it should be only to find it laying on the ground nearby. I put it back where I originally looked rather than throwing it on the ground. I am sure the racoons will play with it tonight, making my efforts in vain but I'm good with that. Leg two had traditional Akron coords. I missed it when I looked there the first time and then proceeded to a target that fit the hint. No dice. I returned to the first target and made the find. On the way to leg 3, I took some time to search for the frog cache near by. Initially I struck out there so I kept climbing and headed for this zero. After a brief search, I had the can in hand. Retracing my steps eventually resulted in a find of the other cache I was looking for. This is a cool little forest. I enjoyed the solitude after riding the gauntlet earlier in the day. TFTC.

This is our first OCUS find! This was a great hike and a BEAUTIFUL day! E's geosenses were cloudy today since she's been sick for the past week, so B did a lot of the finding. The final was very, very well hidden! A pair of curious muggles were about on the trails, but we were stealthy! Traded purple duckie for Mr. Blik figurine. Overall geocaching find #128 for us! TFTC! Now THIS is more like it. Wondering the woods all by ourselves. Well, except for the couple with the boarder collie. But they just walked on by as if we didn't exist. They didn't even respond to a cheery "Good morning". Oh well. we had fun hiking the trails. The cache was laid out great. Our GPS had us a few feet off, but well within expected and acceptable deviation.

Thanks for the fun time in the woods.

How could I possibly resist the lure of a genuine 50 caliber ammo box tucked away in a section of fine open woods?!? The answer is, I can’t. Or at least couldn’t any longer. So with Chicky at my side, we hit the parking coords and with a poopie-slurping grin on my face, delved head-first into these beautiful woods. What can I say, this is a true gem. I had no idea this section of State Lands existed, so I had to comment the entire trip as to how nice a job the trail maintenance folks did in putting this together for my leisure and general enjoyment.

We arrived at the first leg, and the coords were perfect for us which lead to a very quick find. Of course that was just the start, as we sort of got turned around and didn’t know which way we had come from after leaving the trail. The GPS was bouncing and totally useless, but eventually we got our bearings and got back on track. Haha.

The second leg was in another great spot, and again a quick find. It looks like an animal has been gnawing on this one, but the container is still in decent shape and everything inside was dry. Damn animals…what about cammo duck tape is appetizing? Anyhoo…

We took a bit of a circuitous route to the final, but without problems found the appropriate trail and soon we were snooping around for this very well hidden ammo box. Oh the joy, the rapture, the tears of giddiness. I love me a nice ammo can multi box finish. So I signed the log and rehid very well so future finders will have as much fun as I did in snooping around.

Thanks SB7 for this dandy hike in a beautiful place ending with an ammo can that I could caress and love as my own. This was our favorite of the day for sure!

~Szuchie

PS: Oh yeah, we also picked up the Geokritter or whatever these them thar things are called. Haha.

Finally get to log my first find for Opencaching!!! Got the message when I was in Williamsville trying to get the wife's car back into shape. So, I thought about it and decided I would make a run at this cache whenever. My luck to this point has been very limited so I wasn't filled with the zest for the hunt like I usually am. Ended up getting home at about 5:15pm and had a change of heart. I asked the family if they'd be interested in going for "a walk" and to my surprise they were in!!! Pulled into the parking spot near GZ and everything was wide open. Found the first stage without difficulty but when we walked back onto the path I finally got the opportunity to meet Cayuga Crew. Made it around to the final and with Cayuga hooking up with us at the final location we both signed the fresh log. Definitely was a pleasure chatting with you Cayuga and thanks for the new hide Sabre!!!

Spotted this new OC cache after arriving home from a day trip to PA. My first thought was to save it for the morning but soon found myself heading into Akron is seach of this cache. Spotted Cski and family near the first leg then again at the second and once more at the final where I heard the sound of an ammo can opening as I was exploring the area that fit the clue.
All coords were great after allowing some time for the Akron settle as they appear to jump around quite a bit in this area.. Signed in after Cski and dropped off Borst's Geokret. Hopefully i can figure out how to log the move.
Thhks for taking the time to place the cache.
