Second stop on our way from visiting the museum of science to the falls. Whenever we stop at memorials like this, I can't help but realize how much was paid but men and women who were often at the same age and life stage as I am at - 30-somthing with young kids. I can't imaging leaving my family to go far away for so long and with so high a chance of never returning. And yet so many went, and still go, willingly. I am grateful.

I will add my photos shortly. Thanks Mr.Yuck for the virtual, our first of that tyoe with OCNA and our second OCNA find.

Stopped by with DudleyGrunt on the way on our way to Niagara Falls, prior to GeoWoodstock. Thank you!

2771. Great memorial. I hope all the folks that pass this regularly, take a moment to realize what it means.

This was my last find of the day with my son (JuniorNimrod), before heading to Niagar Falls to check in to our hotel and go to dinner.

Thanks and Happy Trails! See you at GeoWoodstock!

Had a short conversation with a woman at the location who also remembered climbing on the jet as a child. She said "I don't know why they fenced it off. We climbed on it when we were kids and WE never fell off." Some people just don't get it.

It's nice to see that they have done some restoration work on the Cougar as part of the project. It was looking a bit shabby the last time I was near it.

Finally made it out here today. Nice that the memoral was kept up and snow removed. Answered the prescribed questions and took a picture. A lousy one at that. I wish I had a front facing camera on my phone. All in all nice virtual. Once I figure out how to get the picture logged I'll edit my post. Until then I'll email the answers.

Nice job

Thanks Mr Yuck

I had been wanting to check out this memorial since, well, it was built, but never made it over here. After a short day of caching on the froggie site, I decided to stop over here before heading home. Yep, this is a pretty fine looking memorial, and the rehab they did on the plane makes it look brand new. I was surprised to find out last year that all the plaques had been filled so quickly, thus the need for the additional dedication wall in the back. Although I did take a picture, I'm going to be different and give the required answers to the questions to the cache owner tonight. Good one, Yuck-o, thanks.

I was already in bed last night when this one got published. I saw the email this morning as I was finishing my morning Timmys wile i was at my first stop of the day. At first I thought it was the closer memorial but I was wrong. I looked up the corrds on the site and plunked them into my GPSr. Visited the site @13:00 hrs on my way back to the plant. Thanks for a cool virtual. This area is vastly improved from the last time I drove by. If you look close you can see what I named the waypoint.

I'd address the first finder directly, but he'll change his name next week, and it won't make sense. No joke, I spent about 55 minutes walking up the rail line including all the way to Cardinal O'hara High School, and just couldn't find a spot I was happy with to drop a lock-n-lock. The only good (and relatively trash free) spot on the whole line was the final of Dr. Evil's old multi!! And that was repeatedly muggled an once deficated in, so I wasn't going to drop it there. Gof, that's a picture I grabbed off of wikipedia, it was too crappy of a day for me to take pics. There is definitely a fence and benches around the airplane now. You'll just have to come see yourself. You know, it just never occured to me all those years the plane was used as playgound equipment would piss anyone off!! I grew up in the City of Ton., not the town, but I definitely got a few chances to climb all over that thing.

Allright I'm going to say it outloud....

Generally I'm not akin to these virtual caches, after all isn't that why Rayman invented Waymarking, but since TWU (wait I'm TWU here aren't I) I mean Mr Yuckie considered placing a physical cache here I guess its alright.

Anyway I was headed that way this morning and jumped off the Youngman 1 exit early to visit the impressive memorial and take a few photos. Here's one on them...COORDS ON THE MONEY

CHECK OUT THOSE SPOT ON COORDS!

Thanks for adding to the Opencaches available locally.

Wow! When did they do all of that? The last I knew the plane was surrounded by an orange fence. Guess I haven't been that way in a while.

I do remember it as playground equipment. We played on it as kids. That was mid sixties. Hard to believe that that plane was there for nearly 50 years before someone decided it was a monument and shouldn't be played on.
