Edited my log to recommend this cache, now that I earned another one to give last month. By the way, did anyone ever notice the Groundspeak favorites points system is COPIED EXACTLY from the OpenCaching network??? With different terminology, of course. Tongue out

Finally, logging my last vacation cache, on all websites, a week later! Best for last? Very possible, this is awesome. I'm afraid I'll need 4 more finds before I can go back and recommend this, but I plan to. I'm heading Sabrefan7 way in a few weeks, I should be able to pick up 5 or so OCNA finds then. So as the story goes, I was staying in Hagerstown, and had to drive 25 miles to Frederick for an OCNA event, and this was on the way. I alloted an hour and a half for this, and just made it! Enjoyed my hike to the monument (I'll guess a couple hundred feet elevation gain), and the monument itself. Boy is it old! Being there an hour or so before sunset, the middle 2 or 3 steps were completely dark, that was a little scary. Noted that the trail from the parking area crosses the AT! On the way down, I hiked about 500 feet North on it, just for the heck of it. It's only the 2nd time I've encountered the AT while caching (the other time was in New Jersey at the Delaware Water Gap), and I did the same exact thing that time too! Thanks for the great virtual, DG.

When I planned my trip, I wasn't sure if I'd have time to make it to the OCNA caches west of Frederick, but as it turned out, I did. As it turned out, I also was able to find another cache here as well, as I was leaving. Thanks for bringing me here!

Headed north for Geowoodstock and this was a perfect way to get off the highway and take a nice walk.  The view was darn near perfect and the bonus was other caches in the same park.  I only met the park ranger and saw one other car the entire time I was here.  The lonely ranger was desparate to show off the museum so I spent more time looking at the displays and photos than I expected.  That just made the history of this place more indelible though.  Thanks for bringing me up here!

Smile FTF Smile 11:06 AM. When I arrived it was very quiet, but within a moment or two there was standing room only on top of the monument. I gathered the necessary information and in my haste to make room for others, I failed to get a picture of myself at the monument. Cry Thanks for showing me this.
