Since there are no longer any *actual* webcam caches left in Nebraska on that "other" site, & they are no longer being published, we decided to make another un-webcam. However, someone took the spot, refusing to even acknowledge, after a lengthy explanation as to what happened, that we'd been waiting for this camera to come back online.
We started our page in April 2023, then waited 3 months to get an all clear from the reviewer in August 2023. Then, as we were finishing up the website, the cam went down & stayed that way up until March 2024, all the while we were dropping reviewer notes saying we were still waiting for the cam...& yet, despite all this, he decided to give our spot away anyway! Grr. So, now we have no choice but to get creative. That's fine, we'll happily find a way to use his cache to send people to our webcam. It's GCAM9CD & is stapled to the west side of GZ as of 3-13-24.
The cam is on the southwest corner of the intersection up on a pole pointing at this corner of 9th & Q.
Name: Lincoln Transportation & Utilities Traffic Monitoring Camera #45. Our webcam is accessible from the public sidewalk & is ADA compliant
You'll need to pay for parking at one of the many meters nearby, which can be fed using the Passport Parking app (instructions are posted on site).
To access the cam & post your photo: click on the link below online using your mobile browser or wifi-enabled tablet/laptop. If you have trouble accessing the cam, try different browsers or borrow a friend who has a laptop at home.
TRAFFIC CAMERA #45<---Click Here Yes, this one is a live feed but with a slight delay
Find where the camera is currently aimed (yes, it moves), take a snapshot of yourself, & post your screenshot with your log. You can wave, carry a flag, pose, point to the camera, give a thumbs up, put your hat in front of your face, stand on your car... get creative! If the camera is down (in fact, it happened for most of a year shortly before this cache was published), you are welcome to post a selfie or photo of your shoe at GZ if you'd like. If you're there at night, feel free to grab a good flashlight & use that to point at the cam or light yourselves up.
